The Restaurant Guide for Wine Lovers
Butler Whites
We assessed Butler Whites in July 2026 from the menu and wine list as they stood then. Dishes and bottles move on; how to drink well here changes far more slowly. We name bottles from the list we saw and say what to reach for by style, so the advice outlasts the list. Once you are seated, At the Table in the Vinealto app reads the list in front of you.
Butler Whites is a modern British brasserie on Hull's Humber Street with a compact, openly priced wine list built to cover a wide-ranging seasonal menu. The wine programme earns its place on clear by-the-glass value and genuinely helpful tasting notes rather than on depth or curation, with real gaps at the top and in the dessert and fortified corner. It will most reward the everyday diner who wants to drink a well-chosen glass without ceremony, rather than the collector in search of a serious list.
The full assessment — the wine programme, the pairings that lift a plate, and how the room reads for a wine lover — is for subscribers.
