Butler Whites is a modern British brasserie on Hull's Humber Street with a compact, openly priced wine list built to cover a wide-ranging seasonal menu. The wine programme earns its place on clear by-the-glass value and genuinely helpful tasting notes rather than on depth or curation, with real gaps at the top and in the dessert and fortified corner. It will most reward the everyday diner who wants to drink a well-chosen glass without ceremony, rather than the collector in search of a serious list.

Tapasya@Marina is an ambitious Indian fine-dining restaurant on Hull's Marina with a wine list far broader and more thoughtful than the cuisine usually attracts. The wine programme earns its standing on genuine breadth, a cuisine-aware choice of aromatic whites, sparkling and alcohol-free options, and the rare help of per-dish spice markings, let down only by a steep premium end and the gaps a dessert and fortified shelf would close. It will most reward the curious diner who wants to drink properly with their spice and treats the spice markings, and the person pouring, as the tools they are.
