The Restaurant Guide for Wine Lovers
Coq and Bull
We assessed Coq and Bull in October 2026 and this review is based on the food menu and wine list at the time of the review. As menus and wine lists change, we name styles in order for the information to remain more useful as menus change. If things have slipped you can use the Vinealto Dining app including accessing an up to date reading using 'At the Table' from the wine list in front of you in the restaurant. How we assess
Coq and Bull is the brasserie at Clandeboye Lodge near Bangor, serving local produce, steaks and classic dishes every day. Its list is commercial, but a suggested glass beside every main course and a note on every bottle make choosing easy. It suits diners who want a dependable brasserie meal with a well matched glass and no fuss.

Gastropub
Jamaica Inn is a busy seafront gastropub in Bangor serving seafood, steaks and pub classics all day. Its short wine list is fairly priced and has good choices for the fish, but it offers no dessert wines, prints no vintages or glass sizes, and does little for the spicier dishes. It will suit families and groups who want a reliable glass with a seafood supper by the sea.

Contemporary fine dining
Underground Dining is a chef-led contemporary restaurant on Bangor's High Street, cooking ambitious, produce-led food from a Michelin-trained kitchen alongside a short, mostly commercial wine list. The wine programme's reach does not match the cooking's (bottle-led, with thin by-the-glass and no high-acid white poured for the seafood) though it punches above its length in Champagne and in a proper dessert-and-Port offer by the small glass. It will suit the diner who comes for the plate and is happy to choose a bottle to match, more than one hoping to explore by the glass.
