We assessed The Cellar Door in July 2026 from the menu and wine list as they stood then. Dishes and bottles move on; how to drink well here changes far more slowly. The Cellar Door is a Modern European restaurant in central Durham with a seasonal kitchen and an unusually wide, well-curated wine list. Its programme earns its place through breadth, a genuine by-the-glass and Coravin offering that reaches from everyday bottles to fine wine, and honest guidance built into the page. It will most reward the curious drinker who wants to explore beyond the familiar and does not mind doing a little of the matching themselves.
