Treacle tart
Golden syrup, breadcrumbs and lemon in short, buttery pastry make one of the sweetest puddings there is. The wine must be at least as sweet, or it will taste thin and sour, and it needs acid to meet the lemon and weight to match the dense filling. Dry wines and light sweet wines both fall away.
