The Restaurant Guide for Wine Lovers

La Bobina

We assessed La Bobina in October 2026 and this review is based on the food menu and wine list at the time of the review. As menus and wine lists change, we name styles in order for the information to remain more useful as menus change. If things have slipped you can use the Vinealto Dining app including accessing an up to date reading using 'At the Table' from the wine list in front of you in the restaurant. How we assess

La Bobina is a lively tapas and wine bar on Marlborough High Street with a menu that runs from pintxos to grilled steak. Its mostly Spanish list pours 22 wines by the glass and seven sherries by the 75ml glass, which lets the table match each plate as it arrives. It will suit groups and couples who want to graze, share and try a sherry or two.

The full assessment of the wine programme, the pairings and how to get the best experience is for members. Make a free account to read five full entries.

The Marlborough Inn

Marlborough, Wiltshire

Modern British gastropub

The Marlborough is a Wiltshire country inn cooking confident modern-British gastropub food, with a short, sensible international wine list priced generously by the glass. The wine programme does its job competently and has a genuine local strength in its sparkling, but it is assembled to cover the menu rather than built to it, and it closes with a clear gap where a dessert or fortified wine should be. It will most reward the diner who wants a well-priced, well-explained glass beside a good pub plate rather than a list to explore for its own sake.

The Castle Inn

Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire

Gastropub, pub classics

The Castle Inn is a seasonal gastropub in Bradford-on-Avon serving pub classics and small plates. Its short, mostly entry-level wine list covers the food competently, with a welcome by-the-glass and carafe range, but stays shallow and offers nothing sweet or fortified for its own dessert menu. It suits the pub-goer who wants a good-value glass with a decent plate, more than the drinker after depth or a wine to finish on.
